RCA Records
In 1955, Presley was signed to his first major recording company: RCA. His producer, Chet Atkins, waited in anticipation for his first look at how Presley made his music in the studio. What Atkins discovered was that Presley did not need much guidance and used his time to make his music efficiently. Presley would spend all night working to perfect one song, while other artists that Atkins watched would complete four songs in three hours and the quality of the differences in preparation were undeniable (McGee 2). Presley worked hard to make his music well, and he put all he had into it. Atkins also recollects a memory of Presley: “I remember Elvis being very genteel, quiet, and shy. But when he’d sing and make music, all of his feelings came out. He wasn’t shy about that. He could get a lot of emotion into a performance,” (2). Presley made an impression on everyone he worked with. His passion for music held many people captivated and also inspired by the words and notes.
